You may confuse about MMR and MMRV , what the difference between two vaccine. Base on the title, the MMRV is vaccine include Varicella vaccine. Varicella common name is chicken pox. It’s so straight forward, if you want your child have MMR and Varicella ( chicken pox) you may get both of vaccine in 1 shot, you just have to get the MMRV. The child can have both vaccine after 12 month.
So the question is why there is MMR and MMRV ? In Singapore, MMR vaccine is mandatory, but Varicella is an optional. so, if the parent want to hold/ don’t want their child take the varicella vaccine, they can inject MMR vaccine for their child.
Then for parents that want take MMR and Varicella vaccine, they be able to take MMRV – so only 1 injection is given to their baby.
MMR or MMRV?? Which one should I take?
Then, another question from parents is ” so which one should we take for our child?” to be honest, the question is more depend on each of parent comfortable. for me , I want my child take both vaccine, and I always thinking practical. I opt-in MMRV, so it was 1 time visit and 1 time injection.
I know some parents that want to hold the MMR vaccine a bit later. so they just take varicella vaccine and then later on when baby a bit older they take MMR.
So my opinion, it’s more on what do you think the best for your child. The vaccine available base on parents need.
